I’ve always wanted a fast Subaru. And I think this is the best looking WRX yet, despite what others may have to say about that. The interior is miles ahead of the previous generation too - minus the tacky (and potentially fake?) carbon fiber trim. I’ve driven two generations of WRX, and both were a ton of fun.

The carbon fiber is FAKE but the performance is REAL. I’m a fost driver but they are nice cars! Get one, I dare you.

I’ve said it before, but they’re awesome! There are 5-6 guys in my close group of friends who are petrol-heads and every single one of us has owned at least one WRX/STi. Half of us have had at least 2, so I have had the pleasure of driving one in just about every flavor (every generation, modded properly, modded poorly, etc...)and I have never had anything short of a fantastic drive.

I just picked up a ‘16 WRB Premium yesterday. Could not be happier with my decision. As far as the fake carbon, the ‘16s have an updated infotainment system that at least removes the center piece so it’s not a big deal to me. I also get better (not my absolute favorite, but better) wheels than the ones on the base. Finally, WRB is the best color, looks fantastic on these things.

Do it. You will not be disappointed with a WRX. They are fun stock, you can drive your kids to school during the week, enjoy a spirited drive through the back roads, and take it to the track or an autocross on the weekend. And in every scenario it will be excellent.

The only downside is that they hold their value so well you might have to buy a new one.

Because the profile looks like a Toyota Camry.

Where are the box flares? Sure, the front is a bit aggressive in the standard modern car “giant fish-mouth” sort of way, while the tail lights and quad exhaust are the only things spicing up the rear. It looks like a jellybean like all other modern cars. Granted, it’s one of the better looking jellybeans.

I don’t blame Subaru, I blame crash test requirements! I liked my Subaru, back when a WRX had sweet box flares.

Haha! I thought about saying that the WRX is sort of the “any alfa” of our generation as far as gear heads go. I was afraid that I might catch some flame for that so I kept it to myself. Seeing how you already agree...let it be known!

Ugh tell me about it. The whole slab sided + tall hood for safety regulations thing BLOWS. I was in a new Hyundai the other day, and it was SO claustrophobic. The windows were outrageously short and the door was higher than my shoulder. Makes me appreciate the greenhouse that is my old boat:

I got one last year... My first ever new car, or even car with payments (at the ripe old age of 32.)

I love it. I absolutely love that friggin’ car. I love how it looks, I love how it sounds, I love how it drives. It’s a ludicrous rocket ship compared to the ‘99 Ranger I traded in on it.

It has been the best purchase of my life thus far.
